One-Eye Patch Tennis Event 2025

September 2025

The Acanthamoeba Keratitis Eye Foundation is proud to share highlights from the recent One-Eye Patch Tennis Event organized by our UK Ambassador, Joe Beer. Having lost his eye to the rare and painful disease Acanthamoeba Keratitis (AK), Joe shared his personal journey and brought participants closer to understanding the challenges of living with monocular vision.

During the event, attendees played tennis while wearing an eye patch, gaining a firsthand experience of the difficulties faced daily by those living with one eye. Joe also spoke about his decision to have his eye removed, the impact of AK on his life, and the Foundation’s mission to support patients and prevent this devastating condition. 🎾

Thanks to the generosity of participants and supporters, the event raised in total €1,275 for the Foundation. A special thank you goes to SIFI, whose €1,000 contribution through their annual #AKtivity campaign helped make this initiative even more impactful.

The event was not only a fundraising success but also an important awareness campaign, reminding everyone of the critical need to protect vision and support those affected by AK.

Together, we can raise awareness, support patients, and make a meaningful difference.
