AK Eye Foundation Hosts GAAK White Paper on Acanthamoeba Keratitis

November 2024 –

After a year of dedicated collaboration, the Global Alliance Against Acanthamoeba Keratitis (GAAK) has released a crucial white paper addressing the challenges of Acanthamoeba Keratitis (AK). The Acanthamoeba Keratitis Eye Foundation is proud to host this document, making it accessible to patients, clinicians, researchers, industry specialists, and regulators worldwide.

This white paper explores patient perspectives, parasitology, clinical insights, regulatory considerations, and prevention strategies, offering a comprehensive approach to improving AK awareness, prevention, and treatment. Among the contributors is Juliette Vila Sinclair Spence, president of the Acanthamoeba Keratitis Eye Foundation, who provided valuable insight from a patient’s perspective, alongside leading experts committed to advancing AK research and care.

The Acanthamoeba Keratitis Eye Foundation contributed to this initiative by sharing the patient perspective but was not responsible for selecting the professionals involved. The project owner of this white paper is Nicole Carnt.

By hosting this resource, we aim to support the AK community with essential knowledge and advocacy, reinforcing our commitment to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and patient support.
